The Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt No.17 More Lamp Posts

A trip round Washington DC on an open top bus was an ideal opportunity to photograph some more lamp posts.

The Summertime Photography Scavenger No. 10

My daughter's prom with many parents jostling to take photos was led many unexpected people appearing in my pictures!

The Summertime Photography Scavenger No. 4 A group of tourists

There were plenty of opportunities to  spot and photograph tourists I Washington DC. In fact I could have just done a selfie! But these had a perfect backdrop!

First trip to Washington DC

We headed into Washington on the Metro where we did a couple of tours on the Open Top bus. This gave us a great over view of this interesting city.
One of the first buildings we saw was the Ministry of Agriculture!

During the bus journey we saw quite a few notable buildings.

Some buildings we selected for a wander round and closer inspection including the Washington Monument.

The White House, note the guards on the roof.

Then the Lincoln Memorial.

Values

The school had their garden party today. This chap displayed  various Quaker values many of which are a good basis for all of us.

What a fabulous day of sunshine for a fete in a beautiful setting!

Meanwhile the farmers continue to make hay. Kate tried out some panoramic views from the top of the hay trailer!

We then returned for Prizegiving at which Emma received a sports award.

Summer Delights

Strawberry time is here and I spent a while this morning picking the strawberries in the garden.

Very tempting to eat them as you go!

One of the best tastes at this time of year is the first new potatoes from the garden to plate in a matter of hours.

This was only the beginning of the day. Emma had her last exam and then got ready for her prom. A break in the hay making today meant Emma had some very special transport driven by her sister to get to the event on Weston Pier ..... The new tractor.

She got more of an applause than the smart cars.
