Snap : Blue

I am scraping the barrel slightly today to join in with Helena's Snap. These are some photos I collected in the summer to use for Snap and didn't get round to using them.

1. Borage in the vegetable garden which incidentally is still flowering.

It is lovely to see the cyclamen still thriving and flowering through the fallen Autumn leaves.

Memorandum Monday: Remembrance

Good Morning on yet another Monday morning. It's time to join Sian to tell about something new we have learnt or done this weekend.
On Sunday morning I was cooking the Sunday roast but had the television on to watch the memorial service at the Cenotaph and join in the two minutes silence. I am sure I was not the only one to exclaim at our amazing Queen who is able to not only stand for that period of time but to still be able to walk backwards down the steps. What a remarkable lady.
The ceremony led me to remember some decorations I had seen in Bath.  A new one for me. The Christmas decorations above the entrance to a shopping mall had poppies incorporated into the Christmas decorations.

I shall have to look to see if they remain for the whole of the Christmas season.

A Rainy Day

Yesterday stayed pretty dull all day. It would have been nice to go out in the afternoon for a walk but with a lot of jobs to catch up on I opted for a bit of paper sorting and getting bank statements filed away.

The question therefore is what to blog. Luckily when I went around the scarecrow trail a week or so ago I kept a few pictures for a rainy day.

Escaped the Frost

We have now had several hard frosts in the mornings. Our back garden is very sheltered behind a wall and this gives an opportunity for the flowers to be protected from the elements. I have little time to get out there and do any tidying but there is a remarkable amount of colour for November.

This includes a few sweet peas.

The tubs look scruffy but are still blooming.

Some of the cosmos are definitely dog eared!

A tidy up may be needed but I am keeping husband at bay with his shears!

Short Story: Winter

Today I am joining in with Miriam's six word story. This week the word is Winter so again this week I have delved into my archive. I will let you into a little secret. I don't think any of us were actually in this pram!

Saying Goodbye

The day has come to say our goodbyes to dad but also to celebrate his wonderful long life with all his family and friends.

                               May the road rise up to meet you.
