A Little Help

Yesterday I started by picking the eater apples.

Both small trees are laden this year.

I did kind of have a bit of help along the way.

Bringing the Story Alive

When the girls were small the story series of Apple Tree Farm was among their favourites. Yesterday my great nephew enjoyed one of the stories before our walk out and about.

It's always a delight to see this little smiling face trotting out and about.

He had a firm idea of what he wanted to do today which included a try on the Gaiter.

The next task was to search out his big friend 'Sam' (his own name for older daughter). This involved a bit of a walk.

'Sam' could only be viewed from afar as they were all busy on the potato harvester.

There was of course a quick peep in the tractor.

There was then the obligatory puddle jumping on the way back.

Oh whoops!

It must be time to find somewhere to wash those mucky hands.

Then a return to the house for a proper clean up.

Garden Task

All the partying is now over and it's time to get on with many of the jobs that have been mounting up. The garden needs a tidy up but first of all I must set to and pick the Bramley apples.

Better get the ladder out!

Take Three Thursday : Bella

My photos for this week's Take Three Thursday hosted by Mary Lou  are not something I have noticed but more something that has happened. This week we have lost another member of our pet family.

Our beautiful cat Bella who had been poorly for a short while.

Bella was a tiny cat who was always rather cautious. She was equally very loving and is the mum of our two remaining cats.

A Few Scavenger Hunt Possibilities

The end of September will be the finish of the Summer Scavenger Hunt so I have a few possibilities to consider before then.

I haven't found No. 4 A Zig Zag the easiest to find but I did notice that the architecture on this house and on the church does meet the criteria.

A picture taken inside the grotto will qualify for 7. The Inside of Something.

It was Eileen who suggested the Temple of Apollo for No.13 A Dome. 

Then younger daughter took this 'dome' from inside the grotto.

Then for No. 22 A Dial there is the clock face on the house gateway.

The time for decisions is nearly here.

Visiting a Bristol Landmark

When my auntie and uncle from New Zealand visited I took them for a walk across Bristol's most iconic landmark Bristol Suspension Bridge.

It stretches across the Avon Gorge way above the river and always makes for an interesting walk.

We walked across from the Leigh Woods side.

 

Then on the Clifton side up to the Observatory. 

This gives a great view back down to the bridge. Note the shiny rock in the foreground of this picture, polished by many children's bottom sliding down.

My auntie added her mark before we descended fishing in her handbag for a small padlock to add to the railings.

A popular activity by the look of it.

On Goes the Partying

We have certainly made the most of the marquee over the weekend. Yesterday we held a surprise retirement party for a good friend and ex colleague.

I don't think I have ever told so many fibs in my life but it all paid off as she was completely suprised when she entered!

There were over 60 old friends, colleagues and family there for her which just shows what a popular person she is.

The catering was easy as everyone brought food and drink contributions including a variety of cupcakes.

There was the inevitable team photo.

What a busy weekend. Perhaps I shall be putting my feet up today..... Some hopes!
