Winter Photography Scavenger Hunt. No 18 Shadow

Once again I am joining Joy and Eileen with their joint photography hunt. When we moved the sheep to some new pasture the other day the afternoon sun was getting low and cast the sheep's shadows  across the field.

Obviously the ideal moment for a few shadow photos assisted by my daughter.

Meanwhile the men and the collie Sky are left to get the sheep moved!

It's Just Too Tempting.

I hadn't really intended to blog the trees AGAIN today but.....

There are some who very interested in them and won't leave them alone!

Bella is not alone as Tiggy is also very interested.

Hopefully these will stand up to their interest.

Up Goes the Christmas Tree

We had a bit of suprise when we put the Christmas tree in the lounge. Well hidden in the lower branches is a little bird's nest obviously being a tree top this little nest would have been high up in the woods.

We have left it there and now the tree is decorated but in need of some more lights. We believe in the decorate with all our Christmas treasures and memories approach rather than the coordinated look!

There are plenty of old favourites on show.

And a new edition from our trip to New York given to us by my sister Julie.

This year we have a tree (another tree top from our wood) in the conservatory amongst the geraniums!
This one is an even more interesting shape.

And a few more favourites.

Christmas Treasures

It's Wednesday again and week 51 of Helena's ZIZO. Today I have not managed to restrict myself to two photos!
On Sunday I joined in with Sian's Christmas Club with some Christmas Memories. When I visited my parents yesterday my mum who regularly reads my blog (hello mum) got out some of the Christmas ornaments that I had mentioned from her tree as a child. Most of these were on her tree apart from the two fairies which belonged to my sister and I ( not sure what my brother had!)

I have attempted some close ups of some of them in not brilliant light and not a very good flash.

We all commented on what an extrordinary subject this fish is for a decoration.

I cannot tell you how old these are without publishing my mum's age! Can you spot any of them on the tree in the picture I published on Sunday?
The fish could well reappear for the winter photography scavenger if I don't find any more fish to photograph!

An early Christmas Dinner...

I smiled to myself when I was out shopping in Bath and passed the Kitchens shop window. It seems a famous cook has been cooking to entertain.

The table was beautifully laid but I am not sure that the turkey was up to Mary Berry's standard. It looked a bit rubbery.

This has to be the moment to mention our claim to fame that my grandmother played tennis with Mary's mother and my dad remembers Mary as a child.....

Nice apron Mary but I think I preferred the cat one in the shop!

A Reflection in Water. No. 1 of Winter Photography Scavenger Hunt.

I mentioned a while ago that I would be taking part in Joy's and Eileen's scavenger hunt. Today I am making a start with reflection in water. I took a couple of pictures in the pond that has been made in our nature reserve. The first almost looks like I have pointed the camera at the sky!

To prove that I didn't...

Then when we went out to choose a Christmas tree Monty gave me just the opportunity.

Thanks Monty!

Christmas Memories

Sian fromHigh in the Sky has a lot to answer for! I thought I would join in again today for the second Sunday of her Christmas Club and now I find a whole evening has gone by looking through old photos of Christmas past! There are so many different memories to share! So I have tried to stick to some Christmas tree memories. I found a picture of my mum as a child with her tree. She is the little girl on the left. Some of the decorations that were on her first tree still survive today and were always on our tree when we were growing up.

I have not got such an early one of my dad but this next one was taken just after the end of World War 2 of dad with his family. He is at he bottom of the picture

I cannot find one of a tree when I was small but here is my second Christmas!

Yesterday I blogged us choosing this years Christmas tree so here are a few more years of searching our woods for a tree.

Then off course bringing it back in!

There is always plenty of help with the decorating of the tree. It is always a whole family event!

Well in a day or two it will be time to bring in this year's tree and continue the family tradition.
