A Challenge to Hunt the Colour Yellow

Today is a kind of combined post all to do with the colour yellow. Firstly I was delighted to see that Mary Lou has taken on the task of hosting a Photography Scavenger Hunt which you can read all about here. The list of items she has chosen for us to hunt out and photograph is as follows:-
1.       Something fuzzy
2.       Bubbles
3.       A web
4.       A zig zag
5.       A seasonal relaxing space/item
6.       A pipe
7.       The inside of something
8.       Rust or something derelict
9.       A kite or balloon
10.   Something Yellow
11.   A toy only found out during June to September
12.   A wedding
13.   A dome
14.   Someone fishing
15.   Something crafted from wood
16.   A baby (human or animal)
17.   Circles or crosses in architecture
18.   A fan
19.   Feet of man or beast
20.   Something found under ground
21.  A plaque
22.  A dial
23.  Something powered by wind
24.  Seasonal food or drink
25.  A hat

I shall be joining in with this hunt over the summer months. Interestingly the photo I have chosen for today as an illustration of the kind of subject I could be looking out for to complete item no. 10 Something Yellow also fits for Nancy's A Photo a Week Challenge.
I have this one Welsh Poppy plant that appears every year. It has a series of bright yellow flowers throughout early summer. Definitely something yellow!

A Photo a Week Challenge: Golden Hour

The subject for Nancy's A Photo a Week Challenge is the Golden Hour, the hour before and after sunset. I had chosen these photos to show today before I realised I could use them for the challenge. On Wednesday night I accompanied older daughter when she went to feed her cattle. The sun was just catching behind the trees giving a lovely colour.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Black and White

Nancy Merrill's photo challenge this week is Black and White. I sometimes like to edit some of my animal pictures to black and white. I find it can enhance the concentration on the subject matter.

It can also disguise a scruffy background. This next photo had messy stable walls that distracted from the subject.

Equally when taking new born lambs not everyone wants to see the blood and gore. Black and white quickly obliterates the mess and makes the lamb more appealing. This lamb was not newborn but looked mucky. He is incidentally our only black lamb!

A Photo a Week Challenge : Music

Today I am joining Nancy with her weekly meme a photo a week challenge. Each week she chooses a theme and this week is Music. I am taking you back to Prague for this one. Charles Bridge is a popular tourist spot and was extremely busy the first time we crossed it in the middle of the day. Something was obviously causing quite an attraction in the middle of the bridge.

A little band of buskers were in action entertaining the crowds. It was interesting to encounter them because  I had been sent a little video of this group by my daughter when she visited. She had sent a clip to us because my dad was a keen banjo player (a more classical style I might add!).

Buskers can be variable but they can often bring a bit of cheer as you wander around a city.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Two Materials

am joining in Nancy Merrill's A photo a week challenge. The theme this week is two materials. I have chosen a building in Prague on the riverside that demonstrates a blend of both glass and concrete in one construction. It also demonstrates the juxtaposition between new and old where it fits snugly between much older baroque style and Art Nouveau buildings.

The Dancing House or Fred and Ginger resembles two dancers and was this built in the early 90s. It was built on the site of a building that was destroyed in 1945 by US aircraft bombs when Prague was mistaken for Dresden by the Americans. It is now a luxurious hotel.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Spring

I am joining Nancy today with her photo a week challenge. The subject this week is Spring. The daffodils are everywhere at the moment and don't they just look gorgeous. I took this last week in my mum's garden.

A Photo a Week Challenge: View from my Front Porch

Today I am joining in with Nancy's weekly challenge. The subject this week is The View from my Front Porch. I am stretching this slightly to cover the view from our porch on holiday. This fabulous outlook was indeed our view from our room in Te Annu. We could have looked at it all day.

P.S The boat is for sale if you are interested!
