A little while back we made a quick trip to Oxford and spent some time looking around the Oxford University Botanical Gardens. It is adjacent to the river where this bridge is where one of the main roads through the city crosses. Tucked under the arches are the boats safely stored for when the weather improves.
Another trip out took us to another University Botanical Gardens this time in Birmingham. The bog garden featured a Japanese type pedestrian bridge over the stream. It would be good to return in the summer to see it at its best.
The path on our climb up towards Stickle Tarn in Great Langdale crossed over this fairly new bridge which I suspect is maintained by the National Trust. You can see underneath part of a hydroelectric system which uses water from the tarn at the top of the hill to produce the electricity for the pub at the bottom. I didn't manage to get a decent picture of the sheep crossing the bridge which was rather reminiscent of The Billy Goats Gruff.
Lastly I have looked back through my photo library to find a picture of one of my favourite views. The iconic vista as you enter Stourhead Gardens showing the footbridge which is indeed covered in grass.
Wow - we don't have anything like that here in the US - you are so lucky. Photos are grand.
