The weather is on the farmer’s side at the moment. The dry days have given us a chance to catch up. The barley straw was baled soon after the combine had finished despite Farmer Daughter being on holiday. Brother in Law usually does the baling.
We make a lot of small bales of both straw and hay because we sell a lot to people for horses. These bales are far more labour intensive than the big round or square bales.
Farmer Daughter usually helps with the stacking. It normally takes one person stacking with the loader tractor and one adjusting on the load. It’s much harder work if you have to do both!
Luckily the weather was set dry for several days so they could afford to take a bit longer.
It’s still hard work especially with all the other work on the farm to do.
Farmer Daughter did feel a little guilty about being away and was disappointed to miss a job she likes doing.
Fortunately Poppy was on hand to supervise!
That looks like lots of hard work - so glad the weather cooperated with you all.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Poppy was there to make sure all went well - including the weather.

Beautiful photos. (I'm hoping to find a John Deere tractor before the month is out!)
