American Independence Day

I had never really realised the importance of Independence Day before visiting America.  Wherever we have been there has been preparations for the big day and this was evident in the Historic town of Leesburg today. Many houses and shops were decorated for the day.

One house had the Betsey Ross flag which has is an earlier flag with only 13 stars.

Whilst in Leesburg we also noted quite a few older properties.

And the fact that there were a number of shops with Antiques and collectibles.

It was then time to move onto a July 4th celebration with a 1980s band.

We entered into the atmosphere.

We tried some of the food on offer.

Then we generally relaxed as the sun went down.

Until it was time for the fireworks.

  1. I love the 4th of July! It's such a fun, relaxing holiday. I'm posting some pictures soon (including a parade for the scavenger hunt).

    1. It certainly was an interesting experience coming from England and I thought it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves with no alcohol involved.
