Memorandum Monday: So What's New

I'm sending a wave to Sian and all the happy Monday bloggers. We need a bit of cheerfulness with all the rain we have had this weekend. I'm joining in her meme to think about what we have learnt or done that is new this weekend.
Well the first new thing happened on Friday afternoon. It meant an anxious wait for mum and dad whilst youngest daughter kept us in suspense. Now however it is OFFICIAL we have a new driver in the family and I have become a retired taxi driver!

I know for sure that the anxiety won't stop there!
Friday evening saw me going off to a new venture in the village hall. A games evening designed with the idea of giving villagers a chance to socialise and learn new games. I was in charge of the Newmarket table. I have played this since I was a youngster but had to learn the rules of the night which varied somewhat from our own family rules.

A great time was had by all with all ages from under 10 years to over 70 mixing together to play. There were all sorts of games to learn from Uno, to Chase the Lady to Shed to Yahtzee and that is just a few.

Saturday was a day for taking the girls shopping. Well kind of taking because the new driver took the wheel and the more experienced sister gave instructions from the back seat (not always gratefully received!). My role was the Mastercard to purchase or help purchase new outfits for something happening next weekend! More about that NEXT Monday.
Have a great week and hopefully all this rain will stop soon.

  1. Congratulations to your youngest daughter.

Games evenings are a good way of socialising aren't they. I run one every month and we too come across the need to check the rules on some games as everyone seems to have grown up with their own family versions of how to play. Will you be doing another one?

  3. Congratulations to your younger daughter for passing her test. You will feel strange not being a taxi driver, I know I did I quite missed travelling everywhere. What a good idea to have a games evening a very good way to get the villagers together.

  4. Congratulations to your girl. My son shows no inclination to learn and my daughter isn't quite old enough yet. Ah, Newmarket! How we loved playing that with my Aunty and Uncle on a Sunday after lunch. We played for pennies from my Aunty's big jar! Happy memories.

  5. Life definitely changes when your kids begin to drive! Congrats to the new driver! Both of my kids were super anxious to get their licenses. Fortunately, they've both proven to be fine drivers.

  6. Hurray! Well done that girl! It's such an exciting time.

I've never played Newmarket. I am though very partial to a Beetle Drive, if you fancied running one of those.

    Have a good week

  8. I remember Uno - probably the only card game I was good at. Congratulations to the younger driving daughter - one of the first steps in more independence.

  11. Well done to your daughter, although yet another thing to worry about! My boys will be 17 next year - not looking forward to the expense OR the worry of driving lessons etc.....
