Snap: Trios

There are only a few weeks left of Helena's Snap. My choice today is almost accidental.

1.I spotted the three watericans in a garden I visited and once I had that photo I looked out for possibilities of trios.

2. This giant cutlery was on the wall at a pub I visited a week or so ago. It is difficult to get the perspective but the bricks behind are normal size.

3. A friend gave me these and I promise another photo when they are in full bloom..

4. These characters were on the wall as we went up the stairs for lunch on Sunday. 

More Frost

We continue to have quite a few frosty mornings but these are a few more that I took last week when frost upon frost created some amazing crystal effects. This is the windscreen of my daughter's car that was not used for several days.

The rest are just around the yard outside our house and the main farmhouse.

The rate the birds are going there will be very few berries left.

Memorandum Monday: Lunchtime Conversation

Morning all and sending a wave to Sian and all the Monday morning bloggers. So what's new this week? Well there has been a lot of frost about which judging by Helena and her followers on Snap has been pretty widespread. I couldn't resist a couple more frosty pictures for you and this time I didn't go wandering in my dressing gown. It was a bit further than the garden this time so I went suitably dressed in coat, hat and boots.

Those who follow me on Instagram will already have seen this one. How an ordinary little flower growing around the chicken house can be completely transformed by a touch of frost.

Then nearby an everyday fallen leaf.

This weekend we have been to a Sunday lunch 60th birthday party. Well that's new for a start. When did we get too old to have our parties in the evening?! Then there is the conversation. The new subjects now are mainly centred round entitlements at 60...  Free prescriptions, OAP entry rates, pensions, bus passes.... Did someone mention heating allowance? Oh dear, how did we get here? (Or nearly there, still a couple of years for me!).

Well there was still a birthday cake (technically cakes).

The birthday girl seemed to devise a new way to blow out the candles and no she didn't burn her nose.

5 in 5 : Waterfowl at the Lake

Each month on the 5th I join Sandie in her 5 in 5. The remit is that you take your camera and your timer to your chosen location. Set your timer for 5 minutes and get snapping. The tricky bit is choosing just 5 of these to show.

I am a dy early this month but I had to pop back to Chew Valley Lake with a query about our new binoculars. There were a lot of ducks where I had left the car so out came the camera!

1. A lot of the Ducks were sunbathing on the side of the dam.

2. Some were closer and looking out for any food going on a rather frosty morning.

4. I should think that everytime I have stopped in this car park there are some gulls in this position.

5. None of them are very friendly!

So where do we start? A few weeks ago I took a photo of the tree that I can see from my kitchen window to show the colourful leaves. This is the same view this week which could also be a possibility for 10 Winter Weather or 19 Bird table or feeder.

Shopping in the Sunshine

The last few days have been clear bright days albeit rather cold. On Tuesday I had a few bits of shopping to do in Nailsea and the trees in the car park looked fabulous.

In the afternoon we popped down to Chew Valley Lake to the Optics shop to buy a pair of binoculars for our trip. We made a successful purchase but then I had to stop for one photo before we left.
