A Walk around Sharp Tor

Our second part of Thursday was spent on a walk around Sharp Tor which is the headland beyond Overbecks Garden. In the early part of the walk through woodland there are views over the estuary.

The going is steep in places and very rocky particularly as you climb out round Sharpitor itself.

I don't think any explanation of why it is so named is needed. It is only when you look back that you realise what you have climbed around.

We then dropped down to Starehole Bay which we recalled walking to with the children when they were about 2 and 6 around that same path on a glorious September day. We had all bathed in the little cove. I could not resist reminding Brian that he had dropped my camera in the sea there too!

It was time to stop for a rest

And a selfie!

More successful than my attempt on my phone! Then it was time for the climb up to return along the top of the cliff.

There were several great view points.

I think this next one could be my best attempt at Perfect Blue for the May Movie Challenge.

Before long we were walking back along the top of Overbecks and back to the car.

  1. Beautiful, rugged Devon! Looks so great in all weathers, but I could fancy a dip in that cove on a hot day!
