A Day Out to the Show

Today we had a day out at the North Somerset Show. Emma was not very pleased as she had to head off to school despite it being a bank holiday. This particular show is a one day event and is a great agricultural day out and a chance to catch up with a lot of people. There is a good array of farm animals on show. Rare breed pigs being judged.

Several breeds of sheep.

Some very amusing alpacas.

Not all seem quite so keen to be there!

There was quite a varied dress code....

We enjoyed watching a variety of activities including the local tug of war team which brought back memories of college sports days. Why was I always chosen as the anchor?!

Some very eager terriers attempting to catch a mock ferret.

One of perhaps the best performances was the Avon & Somerset Constabulary Mounted Section. They demonstrated the type of conditions their horses have to be prepared to work in including chasing a burglar in a Zorb ball (An interesting form of transport for an escaping felons).

Then jumping through a fire hoop.

It was a great day and I have saved some more pictures for 5 in 5 and also for pairs.

  3. I do enjoy an agricultural show - we used to go a lot when I was growing up in Aberdeen but there are not many near Edinburgh
