Warm Inside and Out

We seem to have some enormous parsnips from the garden this year. They are not the most attractive and are quite difficult to tackle but they still taste good.

They make pretty good soup too and when I was asked to bring some soup to a bonfire party curried parsnip soup seemed a good  choice.

Sorry no picture of the end product but it went down well. It kept us warm inside and the blazing fire kept us cosy outside.

Our host had worked hard to make us feel welcome with oil lamps lighting the way to the field.

The bonfire was complete with a Guy Faulkes sat on a chair.

The white dot behind was a very clear moon.

The bonfire was soon ablaze keeping us all toasty warm.

It was of course an ideal time for some silhouette pictures.

  1. Your parsnips look much better than the ones in the supermarket this week!

  2. ah remember remember the 5th of November ... I read that several bonfires had Harvey Weinstein burnt in effigy. I like parsnips & those from your garden are huge.

  3. Now I don't much like parsnips but curried parsnip soup I can drink all day! Yum yum yum. The moon was amazing wasn't it? (Was your do on the Saturday or the Sunday?) Glad to see your bonfire was complete with guy. I was only saying yesterday that I hadn't seen one for yonks! Then again, can't remember the last time I convened around anything bigger than a camp fire.

  4. Love curried parsnip soup and perfect for around the bonfire. Great silhouettes.
(those parsnips could win an ugly veg contest though!)
