Devon Delights Friday 12th September

We set out early for our weekend in South Devon. Our first stop was at The South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh. This was always a traditional stop on our way to Cornwall when I was a child and was known then as The Dart Valley Railway.  We had a wander around to stretch our legs. It was a trip into a past world

With the occasional modern touch.

We were so busy trying out the sausage baps in the cafe that we nearly missed the train leaving!

The afternoon was spent visiting Greenway which was the home of Agatha Christie. The National Trust encourage as the name suggests "green" means of transport. We chose to arrive by ferry from the picturesque village of Dittisham.

The deck chairs outside the house seemed to be a popular choice after the walk up through to the woods.

Our visit included a good walk around the gardens and grounds as well as the house.

The boat house is reputed to be featured in her book "Dead Man's Folly"

To finish the day we took a walk on Start Point.

We admired from afar the lighthouse where the bride to be, her bridesmaids and her mum were spending the night before the wedding we were in Devon to attend the next day.
