Pairs Up and Down

It seems a short week with Easter Monday making a longer weekend. This means it is already Wednesday and time for Helena's Pairs. This week I have chosen a look up and then look down. The Bristol University botanical gardens are set around The Holmes which is one of the University residency buildings. It has quite a number of spectacular sets of chimneys of which this is just one.

Meanwhile when I pointed the camera back down I came across this interesting tree trunk which show a little natural architecture.

It is interesting the way the shoots emerge straight from the trunk. The name was in Latin. I wish I has photographed the name to look up later.

It could also be paired as natural and man made architecture.

  5. Ooo, old chimneys - they fascinate me. I like the contrast with the organic tree. A great pair.

  6. That is an odd tree! What strange spiky shapes. Nice Victorian looking chimney pots.

  8. I like the structures here. The tree looks rather reptilian.
