Gorgeous! None of ours survived the transplanting, so I've been buying some occasionally at the grocery store. They're pretty inexpensive, and last a long time as long as I remember to refresh the water every day.
Thanks Maggie for joining in. Such an array of sunflowers & in so many colours. I rarely, if ever, have success with sunflowers because the chipmunks dig them up to eat before I get anywhere with them. Soon all the roadside flower stalls will have bunches & bunches of sunflowers. Although I would probably go for the snapdragons behind your last sunflower photo (col).
I never realised there were so many colours of sunflowers! How beautiful. We only ever tried growing them once, when our daughter was in Brownies and every girl came home with a seed to plant ready for a competition at the end of the summer. Ours got to a reasonable height but was a dreadful trouble to get it in the car safely to the fete where they were being judged!

ReplyDeleteI agree with Karen, they are gorgeous. I don't really have room to grow them so I too resort to buying bunches of them from Sainsburys.
