Take Three Thursday:Sunflowers

The sunflowers at Tyntesfield were far better than mine. They seemed an ideal subject to join Mary Lou in her meme.

  1. Gorgeous! None of ours survived the transplanting, so I've been buying some occasionally at the grocery store. They're pretty inexpensive, and last a long time as long as I remember to refresh the water every day.

  2. I agree with Karen, they are gorgeous. I don't really have room to grow them so I too resort to buying bunches of them from Sainsburys.

  3. Thanks Maggie for joining in. Such an array of sunflowers & in so many colours. I rarely, if ever, have success with sunflowers because the chipmunks dig them up to eat before I get anywhere with them. Soon all the roadside flower stalls will have bunches & bunches of sunflowers. Although I would probably go for the snapdragons behind your last sunflower photo (col).

  4. I never realised there were so many colours of sunflowers! How beautiful. We only ever tried growing them once, when our daughter was in Brownies and every girl came home with a seed to plant ready for a competition at the end of the summer. Ours got to a reasonable height but was a dreadful trouble to get it in the car safely to the fete where they were being judged!
