We woke this morning to very heavy rain but by mid morning it was a beautiful sunny day. I took the opportunity for an early afternoon walk. There were quite a few pools of water sitting in the fields and a beautiful blue sky.
What these thoughtful photos made me think about is the difference between heavy rain in the country and the city. Here instead of flooding fields it pours into houses.
You are right Sian we are lucky that we have the space to absorb it and that it usually does little damage. It can sometimes effect our potato crop but this year they are all safely in the shed. We are high and our fields drain well but farmers on lower ground can be seriously affected as happened on the Somerset levels last year. What makes a nice photo can have a lot of thought behind it as you say!
