Snow Day

The day started early on the farm yesterday with Brother in Law setting off for Bristol  to take his  nurse daughter to work by the only reliable transport. He then had a repeat journey to collect her in the evening.

There were also extra jobs to get done on the farm. The snow had drifted overnight making the small roads leading to the farm difficult to drive through.

This made it difficult for people to get in to see to their horses. Farmer daughter with some help from me took hay and water around to every horse. Most water feeders and buckets were frozen as were all the taps so water had to be collected from our kitchen.

I then scooted round for a few photos. You can see that all was rather grey. The snow had swept into drifts leaving completely bare patches.

There won't be much out of the vegetable garden today.

Then Farmer daughter needed to deliver water etc to some stables we have away from the farm. They were all frozen up.

Two happy customers!

The trip along in the tractor with her for this gave me a chance to see some of the snow drifts.

Poppy enjoyed them too!

We managed a long walk in the afternoon. The snowdrifts were hard going and I think I shall be feeling it today.

Time for some fun along the way.

  1. We can relate! Yesterday morning there was no snow in the driveway. This morning there was 17 inches---the biggest snowfall of the season.

  3. WOW - that is a lot of snow. We were seeing all the reports from the UK about the Beast From The East. Mother Nature does seem in a mood.
