It was refurbished in 2011 as past of a BBC programme called Manor Reborn presented by Penelope Keith and Paul Martin. Each room has been decorated in a different era of the house with materials and objects that can be handled. The furniture can be sat on and you can interact with the house. You can sit at the table in the Tudor Dining room.
The 1912 kitchen is a very busy place with children having a go at 'cooking'.
There are of course a row of bells for the servants to answer their employers needs.
You can take a pot shot in the Billiard Room which was also a chance me to take an Unexpected Reflection.
The Keiller Sitting Room reveals life in the late 1930s when the Marmalade magnate Alexander Keiller was excavating the nearby stone circles. An early telephone was probably a must.
The work has been carried out to a very high standard. One such example is the Tudor Architrave in the Tudor Bedroom. Both bedrooms have Four Poster beds that you are encouraged to try out. There were 4 little girls tucked up having a try when we went through.
I didn't miss the opportunity for a few framed views from the mullion windows
And the back door which peeps out onto the Topiary Garden.
Tomorrow I will follow up with a few photos of the garden.
There seems to be no end to the wonderful places you could take a guest! Another great tour.
