Beating the Weather

We made some very early hay when the weather was very settled. A lot more has been cut and baled in the last few days. The weather hasn’t been so great but all is now safely gathered in and only just in time.

The clouds were threatening on one side of the sky and the sun shining in the other direction. Great conditions for photographs but not so great for farmers.

Luckily other than a few spots the weather held out until they were nearly finished.

Since they came in there has been a heavy shower of rain.

  1. Always a joy once the bales are collected, reminds me of my childhood in Somerset, the village where I grew up would have tractors all day going to and from with bales of hay. We had 3 farms very close to the village.

  2. You've taken some great photos Maggie. Glad to hear they got the hay in before the rain.

  3. Just look at the contrast between the rainbow and the sky! Looks like they got those bales loaded up just in time!

  5. Ah haying is all about timing. Fabulous photos that include the rainbow. Seems a good haul of hay. Locally we've had perfect weather for cuts 1 & 2, don't think cut 3 will be as fortunate.

  7. Love the colors in this photo - the dark grey sky and the green fields and the rainbow.
