A Variety of Flavours

I have previously shown Barley Wood Walled Garden. This evening we took our guests from New Zealand to try out the restaurant.

The Ethicurean is set at the top of the garden in the old glasshouses. It is as its name suggests a restaurant which is very conscious of where its food is sourced. Our younger daughter has had a summer job there so we have heard a lot about it.  Most of the fruit and vegetables are collected from the garden itself.

The abundance is obvious as you walk up through from the car park.

You get an idea of what you are likely to be eating.

The evening meal consists of a 5 course taster menu. Taste is indeed the word as a wide range of flavours are presented in an unusual but very successful way. Alongside that you have the benefit of a fabulous view out towards the Mendips.

A well worthwhile evening experiencing the chefs talents.

  1. Sounds wonderful! I'd love to hear more about the menu. Tasting menus and "farm to table" restaurants are all the rage here.

  2. What a fun evening. I think it is very important people are aware of where their food comes from & how it is grown or raised.
