Beauty is Only Skin Deep

Last week I posted the tomatoes ripening in our greenhouse. This included some rather novel "black" tomatoes called Indigo Black. You can see them here. There was mixed feelings as to whether people liked them. I did however promise a picture when one ripened. So here it is and as you can see the tomato is nomal inside!

  1. I'm still not sure - they say we eat with our eyes, don't they. What's the taste like?

    1. They taste like an average tomato Eileen. Nothing special.

    2. Oh, that's disappointing. I thought they'd have a slightly different flavour in some way.

  2. But I'll take a plain home grown tomato any day over a store bought one. Looks delicious.

  3. Are they safer from pests that colour? Or were they just developed as an interesting experiment I wonder

    1. I have discovered today that they are very antioxidants in fact as high as a blueberry. They are therefore considered a super fruit.
