Take Three Thursday: Steps in Time

Don't you often wonder who has has taken those self same steps before you? Today I am joining Mary Lou at Patio Postcards with her Thursday meme where we post three pictures of something we have observed this week which are linked in some way.
You will know that we are having work done on the farmhouse and last week we unexpectedly had to have the stairs removed. See previous picture! This has revealed what we expected that there had been a much earlier staircase that had been a complete spiral. You can see to the left of the ladder where the original post is now propped by a later addition.

There is also evidence of the original stairs where the wood is built into the stones. Who knows when these were removed although we know that at some stage this end of the house was 'modernised' , perhaps about 200 years ago.

The carpenter in less than a week had constructed a new staircase. This seemed an ideal time to hide something behind the stairs. I have written a memory and put it in a stainless steel thermos. Who will find it?

What would you include if you were writing such a memory to hide?

  1. I like the idea that you have hidden a message in a bottle. Brilliant idea. Thanks for joining in today's Take Three Thursday.

  2. That’s a great idea and if it’s found on the future it won’t be in the same poor condition as the Blue Peter time capsules.

You have stairs now so what’s next?

    1. The underfloor heating is down so hopefully the scree goes down on top tomorrow or early next week.

  3. As everything is on the Internet, it would have to be something personal, maybe a family tree, showing who in your family have lived in the house.

  4. Oh wow, that's a great idea, hiding a message to some future renovators! I don't know what I'd have put. Probably something about myself, and a note outlining what little I know of previous occupants.

  5. Yes about us and past family occupants. I added photos of the family and the house. Not brilliant copies as I only had time for basic paper printing.

  6. The new stairs are great, and done in much less time than I would have anticipated. Great idea to hide something behind them.
